SHOEBOX SCANNING

Are your family pictures stored in boxes and drawers fading away day after day? Digitalization is the ONLY way to stop it!

I am offering 600 dpi and 1200 dpi scanning at much less than regular cost because I want you to have your pictures preserved at a better than average resolution. I will scan your photo prints that are un-mounted, at least 2 x 3 inches and no bigger than 8½ x 30 inches at 300 dpi - 1200 dpi and store them as jpeg files. The finished product consists of digital files on a data CD/DVD. You can then print them off or store without fear of further degeneration.

You can also have scanned to the same disc school reports, certificates, newspaper clippings and so on as long as they conform to the same picture scanning conditions.

- Archive photos and preserve for generations to come.
- Emergency preparedness. A few discs of your whole family photos.
- Great gift idea for your family members and to pass on to your children, no fighting over prints!
- Enjoy watching old photos on a TV, otherwise you will never see them again.
- Show as a sideshow at a Wedding party or other family functions.
- E-mail old photos, share them on a website.
- Scan your favourites front and back and preserve those special hand written messages.

Now you have a new quick and inexpensive way to get lots of pictures into a digital form!

Due to technical considerations, photos are not scanned in the same order provided to us but can be returned to you in any order you like on the CD/DVD. Just number all prints on the back. We will scan all the photos and then arrange the files in order prior to creating your CD. Cost: 5 cents per print.
*Minimum $25 order. Please, no combining orders.
**No refund will be accepted because the CD or DVD can be easily copied at home.

Images retain about the same color as the original. Faded images are still faded, good pictures are still good. You have the added option of the file enhancement, which I would strongly recommend. This is NOT photo restoration. If you would like information on photo restoration please email.

A note from Jane:
I don't know about you but I have thousands of older family pictures. They need to be scanned as they are fading away as they sit in their albums and boxes; already most of the ones from when my children were born are little more than useless. Taken at the time when we were all suddenly able to capture things fast and relatively inexpensively. You may, like myself, be paying the price for the then wonderful new technology.

There are sites on the web who offer shoebox scanning, they take all these memories stored in albums, drawers and boxes and scan them for you saving you the time to do each picture individually yourself. Prices vary, according to the resolution you want your pictures scanned at. The prices they quote are usually for 300 dpi. 300 dpi enables you to print that same picture at the same size and up to about 2 times that. Their scanners can cope with piles of pictures at different sizes from "2x3" up to 11"x30". Smaller, larger or thicker pictures have to be scanned on a regular flatbed scanner and so inevitably cost more.

I took matters into my own hands and have researched and purchased my own Shoebox scanner! I am BLOWN AWAY by it. It is even better than I could have imagined scans up to 1200 dpi and can do simple retouch too, as much retouch that old crappy pictures could handle if they were done in PS one at a time! The first pictures I scanned to 'see' how the scanner performed were from 30 years ago. When scanned they were as faded as the originals, with the added option on the machine they were soon back up to scratch! Of course you can't add detail which isn't there to start, with but frankly, to see the little prints at super size and better than the original in both colour and detail made me jump for joy!
