I am offering 600 dpi and 1200 dpi scanning at much less than regular cost because I want you to have your pictures preserved at a better than average resolution. I will scan your photo prints that are un-mounted, at least 2 x 3 inches and no bigger than 8½ x 30 inches at 300 dpi - 1200 dpi and store them as jpeg files. The finished product consists of digital files on a data CD/DVD. You can then print them off or store without fear of further degeneration. |

A note from Jane: There are sites on the web who offer shoebox scanning, they take all these memories stored in albums, drawers and boxes and scan them for you saving you the time to do each picture individually yourself. Prices vary, according to the resolution you want your pictures scanned at. The prices they quote are usually for 300 dpi. 300 dpi enables you to print that same picture at the same size and up to about 2 times that. Their scanners can cope with piles of pictures at different sizes from "2x3" up to 11"x30". Smaller, larger or thicker pictures have to be scanned on a regular flatbed scanner and so inevitably cost more. I took matters into my own hands and have researched and purchased
my own Shoebox scanner! I am BLOWN AWAY by it. It is even better than
I could have imagined scans up to 1200 dpi and can do simple retouch
too, as much retouch that old crappy pictures could handle if they were
done in PS one at a time! The first pictures I scanned to 'see' how
the scanner performed were from 30 years ago. When scanned they were
as faded as the originals, with the added option on the machine they
were soon back up to scratch! Of course you can't add detail which isn't
there to start, with but frankly, to see the little prints at super
size and better than the original in both colour and detail made me
jump for joy!
